Ray Marchica is a well-known drummer and recording artist most known for his long stint as one of Broadway’s most in-demand drummers but who also played on James Brown’s super hit Living In America.
Ray graduated from Brooklyn College, where he studied percussion with the famous Morris Lang of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared on countless sessions, Broadway productions and TV shows. He is a longstanding member of numerous jazz ensembles and has performed with the likes of Phil Collins, Cher, and Marc Anthony. His Broadway and theater credits include working at Radio City Music Hall and as the house drummer for “A Chorus Line", and the hit Broadway production "Mamma Mia".
Ray and I went live to chat about his experiences in the Broadway world, his classical training with Morris Lang and recording with James Brown. We even had a mini live jam session trading 4’s. You can find more info about Ray and contact him through his website: www.raymarchica.com
