John is a very well-known New York drummer and author of the famous "The Art of Bop Drumming," one of the most important books on jazz drumming. He is a professor at the Manhattan School of Music and drummer for the famous Vanguard Big Band at New York’s Village Vanguard.

LIVE CHAT WITH RAY MARCHICA (Broadway Drummer and Recording Artist)

Ray Marchica is a well-known drummer and recording artist most known for his long stint as one of Broadway’s most in-demand drummers but who also played on James Brown’s super hit Living In America.

Ray graduated from Brooklyn College, where he studied percussion with the famous Morris Lang of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared on countless sessions, Broadway productions and TV shows. He is a longstanding member of numerous jazz ensembles and has performed with the likes of Phil Collins, Cher, and Marc Anthony. His Broadway and theater credits include working at Radio City Music Hall and as the house drummer for “A Chorus Line", and the hit Broadway production "Mamma Mia".
