Number one, I need to see you play.

The easiest way to do that is to put yourself on YouTube and email me the address.

No more than 10 minutes.

Preferably playing various grooves: rock, funk, jazz, afro-cuban, and maybe a short section with a band.

If you're strictly a rock drummer and want instruction in rock, that's not really my thing, so you're best going somewhere else. No offense meant. Funk, jazz and afro-cuban are my specialties.

If you cannot deal with YouTube you can send me a DVD. You can make one up with your computer using the above guidelines. Since I travel a lot this may take a while to get to me, so YouTube is best.

After I can see you play, I'll email you with a proposal of what I think we should work on, taking into account the areas you're interested in. This may include:

1: studying many funk groove videos I have made
2: assignments from my books
3: assignments from other people's books
4: other materials from my library: charts, exercises, etc.
5: songs to learn and play
6: groove and feel studies

You may have to obtain some of these materials yourself but I can help if you're in an area where that is difficult. I can supply the materials from my library.

This is a commitment as I'm sure you know. I will analyze and make comments, but you'll have to do the work. After you complete the assignments you can send me videos of you performing them and we'll move ahead.

Cost of an initial evaluation from a youTube video: $25. This will be a full page, in depth evaluation.
